Our Youth Mental Health First Aid (Youth MHFA) Training course is split up into 4 manageable modules. These are:
 
What is mental health?
Depression and anxiety
Suicide and psychosis
Self harm and eating disorders
You will also cover other topics specific to young people that include child and adolescent development, bullying/cyber bullying, substance misuse and promoting protective factors and good parenting.
 
In each section you’ll learn how to:
 
Spot the early signs of a mental health problem in young people
Feel confident helping a young person experiencing a problem
Provide help on a first aid basis
Help protect a young person who might be at risk of harm
Help prevent a mental health illness from getting worse
Help a young person recover faster
Guide a young person towards the right support
Reduce the stigma of mental health problems

Senior Section Residential: 16th -18th March 2018 at Threlkeld Village Hall for anyone 13-26 years. £20 for the weekend. Refundable on the day. Starting 5pm Fri and finishing 4pm Sunday. They can attend as much or little of the weekend as they want. Lots of ideas about opportunities for S/S: Awards, International, Camps, etc + opportunities to support their local community. Queen’s Guide Air and Share on Saturday 17th March 2018 10-12 noon at Thelkeld Village Hall. Free.

Where we will have a choir sing to all.

Selecting leaders for the four 2019 Region trips.

In 2019 Region will be running three trips for 14-19 year olds. The destinations of these will be announced in the near future. At least one trip will be community service based, whereas the others may involve more adventurous activities, or have a key emphasis on being girl-led. Region will also be running an ICE trip, which is an International Community Experience for Guides aged 11 – 13.

BLOOM selection day

Sri Lanka Flyer BLOOM

BLOOM Selection Day (17th March 2018)
“BLOOM” is Region’s new project which will be running in Sri Lanka over the next 4 years, and will focus on helping to develop the Rangers’ section for 17-21 year olds, by expanding the programme and recruiting and training leaders.

This selection event is for adult members (aged 18+) wishing to participate in this project and available to travel to Sri Lanka for approximately 2 weeks in March 2019 (dates to be confirmed, but likely to be during term time). Come along and meet the project’s lead volunteers and learn more about the trip.
