Senior Section Residential: 16th -18th March 2018 at Threlkeld Village Hall for anyone 13-26 years. £20 for the weekend. Refundable on the day. Starting 5pm Fri and finishing 4pm Sunday. They can attend as much or little of the weekend as they want. Lots of ideas about opportunities for S/S: Awards, International, Camps, etc + opportunities to support their local community. Our Girlguiding Forest maintenance day is March 18th. We need lots of help and the pay is lots of tea and cake!
We meet at the car park behind the Blencathra Centre at 9.30am, and finish approx 3pm and all go back to the village tea shop for the tea and the cake. Wear strong shoes- ankle support good- bring clothing suitable for hot/cold/wet/windy…..Cumbrian weather! + gardening gloves, secateurs, trowel. See you there, Sue Grainger🌳🌳🌳

Our Youth Mental Health First Aid (Youth MHFA) Training course is split up into 4 manageable modules. These are:
Self harm and eating disorders
You will also cover other topics specific to young people that include child and adolescent development, bullying/cyber bullying, substance misuse and promoting protective factors and good parenting.
In each section you’ll learn how to:
Spot the early signs of a mental health problem in young people
Feel confident helping a young person experiencing a problem
Provide help on a first aid basis
Help protect a young person who might be at risk of harm
Help prevent a mental health illness from getting worse
Help a young person recover faster
Guide a young person towards the right support
Reduce the stigma of mental health problems
